Here are some TV shows and a straight-to-video cartoon, all new to DVD.
"Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch" (Disney, 2005, PG, $29.99). Young Lilo is getting ready for a big hula competition when Stitch begins misbehaving, thanks to something out of whack in his molecular makeup. So it's up to Lilo to save the day.
This straight-to-video sequel is pretty funny in places, and it features three Elvis songs, which, along with the Hawaiian setting, highlight this 68-minute feature. The meager running time is bolstered by several featurettes aimed at kids.
Extras: Widescreen, making-of featurettes, music video, interactive games, trailers, language options (English, French, Spanish), optional English subtitles, chapters.
"Petticoat Junction: Ultimate Collection" (MPI, 1963-64, not rated, b/w, $29.98, three discs). This silly, innocent country comedy stars veteran performers Bea Benaderet and Edgar Buchanan, who are always fun, along with young newcomers Jeannine Riley, Pat Woodell and Linda Henning.
The premise has widow Kate Bradley and her three daughters (Benaderet, Riley, Woodell and Henning) running the Shady Rest Hotel outside Hooterville and near the train station, where the Cannonball locomotive provides local transportation. Buchanan is lazy Uncle Joe.
No great shakes, but baby boomers may enjoy the nostalgia.
Extras: Full frame, 20 episodes, new introductions (by Linda Kaye Henning), new interviews, making-of featurette, sponsor commercials w/cast, promos, optional English subtitles, chapters.
"My Scene Goes to Hollywood" (Miramax, 2005, not rated, $19.99). Barbie and the other "My Scene" girls — Madison, Chelsea, Nolee and Delancey — star in this feature-length, made-for-video animated effort. The plot has them being plucked from obscurity to be extras in a Lindsay Lohan movie that's shooting in New York City. Then Madison is chosen to fill in for an actress with a prominent role in the film. Aimed at tween girls who enjoy Mattel's "My Scene" dolls.
Extras: Widescreen, making-of featurettes, interactive games, optional English subtitles, chapters.
"Max & Ruby's Halloween" (Nick Jr./Paramount, 2005, not rated, $16.99). This collection of episodes from the popular kids animated show about Ruby (a rabbit) and her little brother Max includes the title show, "Ruby's Leaf Collection," "The Blue Tarantula," "Ruby's Panda Prize," "Ruby's Roller Skates," "Ghost Bunny," "Max's Shadow," "Max Remembers," "Ruby's Candy Store," "Max's Thanksgiving," "Max's Pretend Friend" and "Fireman Max."
Extras: Full frame, 12 episodes, chapters.
"The Fairly OddParents! Scary GodParents" (Nick Jr./Paramount, 2005, not rated, $16.99). The shows collected here from this offbeat animated series for kids include the double-length title episode, "Shiny Teeth," "Which Witch Is Which?" and "Timmy's 2D House of Horror."
Extras: Full frame, four episodes, "Genie Meanie Minie Mo" and "Catwoman Meets the Crimson Chin," language options (English, French), chapters.
"The Backyardigans: It's Great to Be a Ghost" (Nick Jr./Paramount, 2005, not rated, $16.99). In addition to "Great to Be a Ghost!," the other episodes from this kids animated series are "Monster Detectives," "The Key to the Nile" and "Pirate Treasure."
Extras: Full frame, four episodes, making-of featurettes, music video, chapters.
