Leona Wilkinson 1944 ~ 2005 Leona Visscher Wilkinson, age 61, passed away peacefully at her home on September 25, 2005 surrounded by her family. She was born May 5, 1944 in Oakland, CA to Jacob and Emma Rust Visscher. She was married to Bruce Karl Wilkinson on November 20, 1976 in San Jose, CA and they were later sealed in the Oakland LDS Temple. Leona grew up in San Leandro, California, and loved horses, antiquing, teaching and reading. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was a gospel doctrine teacher for many years as well as serving in the Relief Society and Young Women's. She had most recently served in the Vernal LDS Temple with her husband. She had worked for many years in San Jose, California as an English as a second language teacher. Leona was a wonderful wife, companion, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a respected teacher and role model and greatly influenced many people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Leona is survived by her loving husband Bruce, and their children: Dawn and Robert Blazer, Pleasanton, California; Audrey and Randy Rocha, Allen, Texas; Jason and Andrea Wilkinson, Allen, Texas, Jenni and Paul Kevis, Snohomish, Washington, and Rachael and Jerry Ellzey, Sacramento, California. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, and one sister, Anah Visscher Mitchell of Vernal. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Karl Jacob Wilkinson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 11:00 am in the Glines 1st & 5th Ward Chapel, 1270 West 1500 South, at 11:00 am. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 pm at the Spafford Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10 - 10 :45 am at the chapel. Interment will be in the Altamont cemetery under the direction of the Spafford Funeral Home
