Chuck Schell, who joined the Utah Grizzlies as their general manager in early June 2005, has left his position with the team by "mutual agreement" between himself and team president Kevin Bruder.

The two had a meeting Friday and parted ways while the team was out of town.

"We wish him well," Bruder said, adding only that the move was by "mutual agreement."

The Grizzlies begin a seven-game homestand tonight at 7 in the E Center.

Schell also said the decision was a joint one. "We mutually agreed for me to leave," he said. He said Tuesday he is "looking for a job."

Neither man would say what prompted the change.

Schell was publicist, play-by-play announcer and general manager of the old Salt Lake Golden Eagles hockey club but left that position in the mid-1980s to work on promotions for the state of Utah.

When the Grizzlies changed from the Class AAA-level AHL to the ECHL last summer, Schell was brought in to help build the AA-level independent club and helped to hire coach Jason Christie.

Bruder would only say "no comment" as to whether he is looking for someone to replace Schell.
