JetBlue Airways Corp. began six daily round-trip flights between Washington and Boston Tuesday, stepping up competition against US Airways Group Inc. and UAL Corp.'s United Airlines for passengers between the two cities.
JetBlue, which announced the flights in November, will use Embraer 190 100-seat regional jets on the route. It will make six daily round trips each weekday and five on weekends, the airline said in a statement. Fares will range from $55 to $140 each way.
The flights are part of an expansion at Boston Logan International Airport by New York-based JetBlue, a low-cost airline. By April, the company plans to have 50 daily departures from Boston. That city is the top destination for passengers out of Washington, the airline said.
