Obituary: Bearl McClellan Thayne

Bearl McClellan Thayne 1917 ~ 2006 Our Mom, Bearl McClellan Thayne, 89, passed away October 17, 2006 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born January 17, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George Alma and Nellie Allan McClellan. She grew up and attended school in the Salt Lake area and graduated from West High School. She met Dad, Richard W. Thayne at Welfare Square where they both worked. They later married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 13, 1940. Together they raised eight children: Linda (Alan) Bray, Grant (Annie) Thayne, Nancy (Doug) Knudsen, Terry (Joanie) Thayne, Dixie (Doug) Vunder, Randy (Ilona) Thayne, Royce (Mardene) Thayne, and Cindy (Kelly) Hardman. Mom set a good example for us to work hard, be honest, and be devoted to our families and our faith. Through the years she faithfully served in the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society. Mom always had a neat and tidy home for us and she spent many hours making her yard immaculate and beautiful. She is survived by her children, 40 grandchildren, 101 great-grand children, and a sister, Gwen Jeffs. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 19 brothers and sisters. We want to thank the wonderful staff of Heritage Place for the love they have shown Mom and Dad these past few years. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 12, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the Salt Lake 25th Ward Chapel, 1145 W. 500 S. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E.
