Wambach moved into sixth place, passing Shannon MacMillan, on the U.S. career scoring list by increasing her total to 62 goals. Lindsey Tarpley and Megan Rapinoe added two goals apiece, and Kristine Lilly had a goal and two assists in her 312th international game — an all-time appearance record for women or men.

SPIES WINS TITLE: Ben Spies won his first AMA Superbike championship Sunday, finishing eighth at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to earn enough points to hold off Yoshimura Suzuki teammate Mat Mladin for the title. The 22-year-old Spies, from Longview, Texas, beat Mladin in the final standings by eight points, 649-641. Mladin, the six-time AMA Superbike champ from Australia, won the race, beating Aaron Yates by 4.132 seconds.
KOREA OPEN: Eleni Daniilidou of Greece held on for a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (3) win over fourth-seeded Ai Sugiyama of Japan in the Korea Open final Sunday to earn her fourth WTA singles title.
Down 4-5 in the deciding set, Daniilidou took three match points from Sugiyama to ultimately force the tiebreaker. Daniilidou had a leg cramp and collapsed to the court during the tiebreaker. After a medical time-out, she took all but one point for the win.
LUXEMBOURG: Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine swept past fifth-seeded Francesca Schiavone of Italy 6-3, 6-2 Sunday to claim her first WTA tournament in Luxembourg. Bondarenko, ranked 62nd in the world, kept Schiavone winless in eight WTA tournament finals.
