LAYTON — The newest retail development in Layton, Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. will open on Monday, Oct. 30, at 1080 N. Main.

This will be the first Hobby Lobby in Utah, and Mike Good will be the store manager. The new store is located in a portion of the former Granite Furniture building.

"We've had a lot of requests for a store to be opened in the Layton area, and we look forward to serving the community," said John Schumacher, assistant vice president of advertising.

Hobby Lobby isn't just an arts and crafts store. It will have departments ranging from crafts, hobbies, picture framing, jewelry making, fashion fabrics, floral, cards, party supplies, baskets, wearable art, home accents and holiday supplies.

Hobby Lobby was founded in 1972 in Oklahoma City with 300 feet of retail space. The company has grown to 379 stores in 30 states and operates from a 3 million-square-foot office, manufacturing and distribution center.
