Reed Watson Ogden 1938 ~ 2006 With tender sorrow we announce the passing of Reed Ogden, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. After valiantly surviving cancer he was diagnosed with a blood disorder called MDS. Pneumonia was the final cause of his death. On Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the age of 68, he passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born July 15, 1938 at Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, Utah to John William and Erma Rae Ogden. He grew up in Salt Lake City. where he graduated from South High School. He earned money for his mission working for KSL radio and served in the Argentina Mission as a missionary for the LDS church. He then enlisted in the Air National Guard, and graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Sociology and later an MBA. It was at BYU where he met his wife and eternal partner, Beverly Johnsen. Their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa, AZ Temple June 8, 1963. Reed and Beverly spent the majority of their married life in Santa Rosa, California raising their family of five children. It was in Santa Rosa that Reed worked for Hewlett Packard and later, Agilent. He served as President of the United Way, was co-founder of Hands Across the County, and willingly served in many leadership positions for the LDS church. With family and friends he enjoyed playing tennis, camping, biking, water-skiing and snow skiing. He had a lifelong love of music and a deep seeded interest in Hamm Radio operation. Reed loved his wife and eternal companion, Beverly Lynn Ogden, their five children, Carol Martin (Jim), Steven Ogden, Joanne Hart (Douglas), John Ogden (Chris), Jeanette Ogden, his two brothers, David Ogden (LaDonna) and Paul Ogden (Laurinda), and he was truly adored by his nine grandchildren. Reed touched so many people throughout his life, more than we will ever know, and he felt blessed to share his wisdom and counsel with them. Reed was born to take this role in our lives and in this capacity he was fulfilled. Services will be held on Monday, October 30th at 11:00 a.m. in the Alpine Ninth Ward Chapel, 901 East Village Way, Alpine, Utah. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 to 10:45. Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery in West Jordan, Utah under the direction of Anderson & Sons Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to andersonmortuary.com
