The After Dark Horrorfest, a three-day event spotlighting new horror films (most of them headed straight to video), is playing in 500 locations today through Sunday, a handful of them in Utah.

A creation of filmmaker Courtney Solomon's After Dark Films, and Lionsgate, the horror fest features "eight films to die for," though select locations are also playing a ninth film, "Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror."

The eight main selections are "The Abandoned," "Dark Ride," "The Grave Dancers," "The Hamiltons," "Penny Dreadful," "Reincarnation (Rinne)," "Unrest" and "Wicked Little Things."

One of these movies, "Unrest," is a medical thriller that was written and directed by Utahn Jason Todd Ipson.

Utah locations for the After Dark Horrorfest include the Century Theatres 16 (South Salt Lake), Cinemark 24 at Jordan Landing, Cinemark Tinseltown USA (Layton), Megaplex 12 at the Gateway and Megaplex 20 at the District.
