Steven Lloyd Roundy and Catheryn Whitney Springer Roundy Steven Lloyd Roundy and his wife, Catheryn Whitney Springer, were called to serve a heavenly mission when their fishing boat suddenly sank in Strawberry Reservoir near Heber City, Utah, Nov. 8, 2006. Steven and Catheryn were married and sealed for time and eternity May 21, 2005, in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Steven was born to Lynn Martin and Judy Bigler Roundy Nov. 22, 1976, in Tucson, Arizona. He spent his early years there and moved to Springville, Utah, at age 5. Steven later lived in Mesa, AZ, and Sudbury, MA. As a child, Steven loved taking apart and rebuilding bikes. He also followed in his grandfather's and father's footsteps and learned to love fishing. Throughout his life Steven was very athletic, participating in a variety of sports, which included lacrosse and football. In high school, he received his Eagle Scout award. Steven served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington-Tacoma mission. He married Emily Herold of Washington, and they had a son, Wesley Steven, and later divorced. Steven was a talented and creative woodworker, building a unique queen bed, dresser, cradle, and other items. He loved barbequing and built phenomenal barbeques and smokers that were the center of many social events with family and friends. Steven loved helping people and spent many hours and late nights helping anyone who was in need. Steven was respected and depended on by family and friends for his extensive computer knowledge. Because of his gift with computers, Steven worked as a Systems Administrator at Enhance Interactive of Orem, UT. It was there that he met his wife, Catheryn Springer. Most recently Steven had been hired to be a Systems Administrator at Logoworks. Wesley, his son, while putting a challenging puzzle together remarked recently, it's okay. Daddy and Catheryn always say, "Never give up." Steven is admired and loved by his son, Wesley; parents, Martin Roundy and Judy Harding Roundy of Springville, UT, and Judy and Richard Adams of Lehi, UT; siblings, Lara (Curtis) Eppley of Springville; Paul (Cami) of Mapleton, UT; Loren (Cari) of Katy, TX; Kimball (Brooke) of Springville; Lani (Reid) Axman of Springville; Jesse and Will of Springville; grandmother, Verla Roundy, Springville; 11 nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Steven has joined his paternal grandfather, Edmund Roundy; maternal grandparents, Doris and Rex Bigler; paternal aunt, Paula Kay Roundy; and cousin, Pete Roundy. Catheryn Whitney Springer Roundy was born September 24, 1983, in Spring Valley, Illinois to W. Andrew and LynnEl Springer. Catheryn was our beautiful porcelain doll. She moved with her family from Princeton, Illinois to Algona, Iowa when she was four years old, then moved to White Heath (Champaign), Illinois when she was eight years old before finally moving to Orem, Utah, for college. She attended White Heath Grade School and graduated in 2002 from Monticello High School in Illinois. Catheryn was very athletic and loved participating in basketball, softball, soccer and track. She excelled in each sport. Catheryn, a National Honor Society member, Lifesaver, and peer counselor was also a cheerleader for many years. She had a beautiful alto voice and sang in Madrigals all four years of high school, and was selected to be in the Illinois All-State Choir. She loved music and played the flute and trumpet in band, as well as the piano. Catheryn was an artist and loved to draw and paint. She also tinkered with photography. She lived her dream when she participated in a BYU Paris study abroad program from Sept. - Dec. 2004. After which, she traveled extensively through France, Austria and Germany with her sister, Amy. When Catheryn returned from Europe, she and Steve became engaged. They married three months later. Catheryn loved her stepson, Wesley, with all her heart. She just graduated from Brigham Young University in Aug. 2006, with a degree in English. Catheryn volunteered for Faith in Action when she was in high school in Monticello, Illinois. Catheryn was involved in literacy education in the Provo/Orem community and dreamed of establishing her own literacy foundation. She and Steve loved to fish and often fished together throughout Central Utah. Catheryn will be missed by her parents; her sisters and brothers, Amy E. Springer of SLC, UT, W. Noah (April), SLC; Seth A. of Orem, UT; Stacey Walk (Cody) of Rexburg, ID; and Daniel E. in Orem, UT; her grandparents, Walter J. and Gerrie L. Davis, Orem and William E. and Marcella Lee Springer, Anaheim, CA; many uncles, aunts and cousins. Catheryn was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Elwood D. Lystrup who passed away in Oct., 1999; and her paternal grandmother, Winifred Whitney (Wilson) Springer, July 1975. We will all miss them. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, 12 noon at the Sharon Stake Center, 545 S. 800 E., Orem. Friends and family may call Sunday evening at Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 N.
