Don Hoagland Forsyth 1940 ~ 2006 Don Hoagland Forsyth passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 66 in the early morning hours of December 11, 2006. He leaves behind a loving wife of 33 years, Shauna Francine Gygi and their seven children. He was born March 24, 1940 in Provo, Utah to Harry Hoagland Forsyth and Hazel Bernice Peck. He was the second of six children. At the age of twelve, Don lost his father in a plane crash and the family was raised by his widowed mother. He graduated from Weber State College. He married Shauna Francine Gygi May 4, 1973. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Don will be remembered for his involvement in the community, having served two terms in office as the Utah County Constable. He served on the Utah County Fair Board and Sertoma Club for many years. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he taught in the auxiliary organizations of the church, and served in the Provo Temple Baptistery for ten years. Don loved the Boy Scouts of America and served on the Timberline Leadership Training Staff, attended Woodbadge Training and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. His career included computer processing, Alpine School District transportation, and most recently Income Tax preparation. He enjoyed this time of year and the many Christmas parties, where he was everyone's Santa for over 20 years. His hobbies included photography, stamp collecting, travel and vacations with his family, and entrepreneurial endeavors. He also had a genuine interest in learning and was very well read. Don is survived by his wife Shauna; his seven children, Natalie (Michael) Walters, Holly (Dennis) Bellon, John (Linda) Golightly, Michael (Lisa) Forsyth, Cathy Forsyth, William Forsyth, Jill (Seth) Van Wagoner; and his siblings, Gwen Squires, Duane (Vicki) Forsyth, David (Kathleen) Forsyth, and Geraldine (Curtis) Smith. He was also a loving friend and proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and a granddaughter to be born this spring. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Ramon Squires, brother Douglas (Andrea) Forsyth, and one grandson, Bo Hoagland Forsyth. Funeral services will be held Sat., December 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest 4th Ward Chapel, 400 E. 800 S., Orem, Utah. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E. Center Street, as well as Saturday morning at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
