Clyde Kay Cummings, founder of C. Kay Cummings Candies, died Tuesday at age 76, following a long illness.

Cummings suffered a stroke in February 2005.

For more than 75 years, the Cummings family has specialized in homemade, hand-dipped chocolates. Cummings made the chocolate business the focus of his life.

That focus brought his children into the candy business, working alongside him and learning a solid work ethic.

Cummings was born Jan. 1, 1930, and attended public schools in Salt Lake City. A graduate of East High School, he served a mission to England for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the University of Utah.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Bonneville Ward, 1535 E. Bonneville Drive. There will be a viewing Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple.

Another viewing will take place one hour before the funeral.
