Vera Monsen Espinosa 1920 ~ 2006 Vera Monsen Espinosa passed away on December 27, 2006 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on September 8, 1920 in Huntington, Utah to Peter and Catherine Gilman Monsen. She married Leo Espinosa on June 30, 1940. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 6, 1974. She attended schools in Emery and Carbon Counties and was always an outstanding student. She won many awards for her essays and poetry and was, at one time, top speller in the Utah schools. She will be remembered for her beautiful soprano voice, and was widely known, along with her twin sister, Verna, as the singing "Monsen Twins." She had the leading role in Carbon High School's operas. In later years, she sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 20 years. She enjoyed her life by exploring the pages of a good book, listening to classical music, studying the beauty of a flower, speaking quietly to the Lord in prayer, and holding a little baby. She was extraordinarily compassionate with high moral and intellectual integrity and spirit. She was very proud of her Danish heritage. Her children will remember her great zest for living. She supported and sustained them in all areas of their lives, and was always an inspiration and fine example for them to emulate. Vera had a very deep love in her heart for her children, grandchildren and tiny great-grand-children. She triumphed over many trials in her life. She dedicated her life to her family. She was an angel in the truest sense of the word. She loved life and everyone and everything. She especially loved her Savior and his gospel. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; twin sister, Verna; and two sons, Robert Dean and Randall Kirk. She is also survived by two sons, Kennith (Becky) and Scott; daughter Delana (Al) Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; 41 great-grand-children; and five great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary on Friday, Dec. 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30th at Canyon Rim 2nd Ward, 3000 S.
