HOUSTON — Wink Adams' 17 points led four UNLV players in double digits as the Runnin' Rebels beat Houston 78-62 on Saturday night.

The Runnin' Rebels (13-2) never trailed after taking an early 12-11 lead and built as much as a 22-point advantage in the second half. UNLV won its ninth straight.

Houston was plagued by poor shooting. The Cougars made just 3-of-24 attempts from 3-point range and 9-of-33 overall from the field in the opening half.

For the game, Houston (5-6) sank just 5 of 36 3-pointers.

Wendell White added 14 points for the Rebels while Gaston Essengue scored 11. Oliver Lafayette led Houston with 16 points, and Dion Dowell added 14.

The Rebels built a 34-26 halftime lead.

COLORADO ST. 76, CHATTANOOGA 65: At Chattanooga, Tenn., Stephan Gilling scored 21 points, leading Colorado State in a victory over Chattanooga to win the Dr Pepper Classic.

Colorado State (10-2) led by 23 points with 12:46 left on a Stuart Creeson basket to make it 62-39.

Chattanooga (7-7) cut the Rams' lead to 68-59 on a Kevin Bridgewaters layup with 2:24 in the game, capping a 20-6 run for the Mocs.

Gilling, who shot 6-of-9 from behind the arc, sank two 3-pointers to seal the win for Colorado State.

Colorado State, which shot 57.7 percent in the first half, led 77-32 at halftime.

Nicchaeus Doaks led Chattanooga with 19 points and eight rebounds. Bridgewaters added 11 points.

SDSU 78, LAFAYETTE 68: At San Diego, coach Steve Fisher recorded his 300th career victory as Mohamed Abukar tied his career-high with 26 points to help lead San Diego State to a 78-68 win over Lafayette on Saturday night.

Fisher reached the milestone in his second try after the Aztecs were beaten at Washington State on Dec. 21 in their last game. Fisher, who won a national championship at Michigan in 1989, is 300-191 in 16 seasons. Fisher has a 116-109 record in eight seasons at San Diego State after spending his first eight seasons at Michigan.
