The Utah Division of Consumer Protection has issued an order of adjudication against Provo-based Mascot Financial in connection with allegations the company failed to reimburse customers who prepaid for credit services.

According to a statement released by the division, Mascot admitted in recent hearings to charging or receiving up-front payments from 232 clients. As a result, the company is ordered to pay a fine of $245,000 to the division.

The order dismisses 10 counts against the company and $24,500 in fines for violating the Utah Consumer Sales Practices Act.
