Glen D. Broadhead 4/5/25 ~ 2/15/06 Glen Delbert Broadhead was born to Vera Kendall Broadhead and Delbert Samuel Broadhead on April 5, 1925 in Nephi, Utah. He attended school in Nephi. He enlisted in the Army and served with honor in the 13th Airborne Division, 222nd Medical Detachment as a medic. He parachuted into France after Patton and was dispatched to Japan with the 101st Airborne when Japan surrendered. He was proud of his service in World War II. He returned from the war and married Audrey Whittington on December 31, 1948. They had three children: Russell Glen, Karen and Linda. Dad worked at the Thermoid Rubber Plant in Nephi and was promoted to foreman. When the rubber plant went on strike he found work at Dugway Proving Ground. The family moved to Dugway in 1963. Dad worked as a Security Guard and quickly found a new position on the test crew. Dad traveled to Hawaii and Alaska and grew to love both those states very much. He remained on the test crew until it was disbanded. He loved to return to Hawaii on vacation and was able to return to Alaska last year on a cruise. He worked in housing and finance until he retired. He received many awards for his excellent work at Dugway Proving Ground. After mom died in February 1978, Dad raised his grandsons, Robert and John. He was active in Little League and Scouts, earning the Silver Beaver Award. He never left the Scouts. Dad was active in the LDS Church. His favorite job was that of bell-ringer for the 14th Ward. He later married Diane Jaster (who preceded him in death) and lived in Tooele, Utah, with her three children Dan, Sammy and Matt, until his death. Everyone who knew him called him Papa or Grandpa. He was loved by all in the neighborhood and by all who knew him. One of Dad's favorite things was when the children in the neighborhood came to visit. He always had cookies and popsicles on hand for the kids. Dad loved his bunnies, his cat, children, hiking, snowmobiling, snorkeling, fishing, hunting, camping (he was well known for his Dutch oven cooking, especially the peach cobbler), the mountains and using his snow blower to clean off the sidewalks of all the neighbors. He considered everyone a friend. Dad went peacefully in his sleep on February 15, 2006. That was the way he wanted to go home. He was preceded in death by his wife Audrey, his second wife Diane, his son Russell, his two sisters LaRae and LaRue. He is survived by his daughters Karen Roberts (California) and Linda Lloyd (Tooele), his grandsons Robert and John, Leon, Micah and granddaughters Noel and Debbie, John-Michael Lloyd, Thomas Lloyd. He had many great-grandchildren including: Robyn, Morgyn, Amie, Bailey, and Nathaniel Broadhead, Kayli, and Matthew Jaster, and Danson Coats. Funeral services will be held on Monday Feb 20, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in the Tooele 14th Ward 192 West 200 So. Friends may call at Tate Mortuary 110 So Main St. Tooele on Sunday 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday one hour prior at the Church. Interment in the Nephi Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
