Darrell Goodrich 2/6/31 ~ 4/22/06 "Gone Rock Hounding" BOUNTIFUL- Darrel Kay Goodrich, 75, died April 22, 2006. He passed away with his wife and a few family members by his side. He died from liver failure. He was born February 6, 1931 in Maeser, UT to Darrell and Edith McConkie Goodrich. He married Sherral Ames on June 13, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the New England states mission in 1951. He was a faithful home teacher for many years. He worked in the sports program in the stake and loved every minute of it. He served in the army during the Korean Conflict. On February 23, 1959 he was sworn in as a full time Officer for the Salt Lake Police Department where he served for 30 years. Through his life he loved to collect rocks. The last several years of his life he spent many hours, walked many miles in the mountains and river bottoms collecting rocks to go on homes and for landscaping in the yards of many homes of friends and family, each rock carefully selected. He will be lovingly remembered as "Rock Man". Thanks Dad for the IBC Rootbeer memory. Special thanks to Hospice For Utah for helping make dad's final days as comfortable as possible. He is survived by his children, Jonathan (Marlene), Nathan (Jill), Ethan (Iride), Roland (Teresa), Garth, Natalie (Mike) Tholen, Penny (Peter) Chinchay, Craig (Deanna), 31 grandchildren, one great-grand-son and another on the way, brothers and sisters, Peggy (Cliff) Perkins, Parley Dean (Jackie) Goodrich. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister and daughter-in-law. Funeral services will be held at the Val Verda 5th Ward Chapel, 2633 South 50 West, Bountiful, on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. A viewing will be held from 10 - 11:15 a.m. prior to the service. Burial in the Altamont Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. with military honors presented by the American Legion. Services under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary in Roosevelt. www.hullingermortuary.com.
