Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn paid $10.1 million Tuesday for a Chinese vase from the Ming dynasty, the highest price ever paid for porcelain from that period.

The pear-shaped vase is decorated with a peony scroll, auction house Christie's said in a statement. It has been sold three times previously, with its most recent sale in Hong Kong in 1997 fetching $2.8 million.
