Andre Miller, a class act, makes a magnanimous gift to the University of Utah. Here's a lad who got no more out of Utah than an education and a chance to show his skills. Now this display of gratitude. Compare that to the pro basketball players who were paid enormous salaries, leave Utah and haul away huge amounts of money.
Retiring their numbers is fine. But the ideal statues for the front of the Delta Center would be Sam Battistone, who brought the Jazz to Utah, and Larry Miller, who pursued and expanded it. Then add a large plaque for the Obioshi Company, which took a financial risk to build the Delta Center. Those are my heroes.
