Archie Duane Burton "Bud" Together Again Bud Burton died May 31, 2006 of Congestive Heart Failure. He was 81. He was born in SLC, UT October 21, 1924 to Verda Fox and Arch Hunter Burton. He is the last one in his line to die. Preceded in death by his wife, parents and brothers Ron and Douglas Burton. Married Helen Frances Wattis Burton ("Dill") on Nov. 1, 1943. They were married for 58 years before she passed away in March, 2001. Attended Granite High School and the University of Utah. He was an exceptional marksman and served in World War II as a sharpshooter in the Pacific - even though he was blind in one eye! He received the Purple Heart, but gave it back because he didn't think that he deserved it. He was an owner of Burton Service in Holladay, Utah and was a first rate mechanic. He loved his cars and always had a new one almost every year. Bud and Dill loved to golf but they especially loved to travel. They spent time on every continent. They really did see the world! They were long time members of Willow Creek Country Club as well as Bloomington Country Club in St. George. Bud was an excellent craftsman and spent many hours in his wood shop 'puttering around'. He could fix anything! He was a very generous man (almost to a fault), was trustee of The Burton Family Foundation which helped many causes throughout Utah, Arizona and Washington. He is survived by: Barbara (Brian) Gundersen, Brent (Kathy) Burton, Scott (Jan) Burton, Kirk (Jann) Burton and Kim (Rick) Plautz as well as 21 grandkids and 17 great-grandkids. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 5 at 12:00 noon where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.larkinmortuary.com
