June Eleanor Roscoe Bagnall 1914 ~ 2006 June Eleanor Roscoe Bagnall of Provo, Utah, formerly of Denison, Iowa, departed this life Friday morning, June 30, 2006, three days after her 92nd birthday. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, June 27, 1914, to Earle Rodney Roscoe and Florence DePearl Graham Roscoe, she received the appropriate name June from her father, as the major events of her long and productive life would occur in the month of June. June was a dearly loved only child. When she was a little girl, her family moved to Woodbine, Iowa, where she spent part of her childhood. While June was still a child, the family moved again, this time to Denison, Iowa, where her father established Roscoe Jewelers. This business figured prominently throughout her personal life and in the life of the town she fondly called home. On June 2, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa, June became the beloved wife of George Campbell "Cam" Bagnall. They shared a happy, busy, and fulfilling life together until his death in 1981. June and Cam had no children of their own, but lovingly raised Cam's only sister, Lois, from the time she was 12 years old. June and Lois maintained a close relationship throughout June's long life. In the early years of their marriage, June and Cam created many fond memories "on the road" as he traveled extensively through several mid-western states as a district meat salesman. In time, they joined her father in the jewelry business in Denison, where they settled down to become highly respected and successful citizens of the town she dearly loved. June enjoyed working with her father and husband and was a productive, competent, skilled businesswoman and jeweler for several decades, continuing the family business after the passing of her parents and husband. June and Cam loved to travel and they experienced many wonderful trips to various parts of the world in their years together. Never one to be idle and always seeking new adventures, activities and travels, June possessed an avid interest in genealogy, a fascination that brought her to Provo, Utah, for research in her later years. She kept busy and thrived by doing research and then volunteer work in the genealogy and family history library at Brigham Young University. For several years, June divided her time between Denison and Provo, increasingly spending more weeks, then months in Utah. Making many dear friendships, she eventually moved permanently to Provo, where she spent the last few years of her life dedicated to her volunteer work in the library at BYU. She donated countless hours of service as a family history librarian and genealogical research aide there. This work filled her life almost full time until only months before her death. Always seemingly young, she very much enjoyed returning often to Denison for pleasure and business trips, despite her advancing years. In 2005, when the city restored and re-erected the street clock that had stood in front of the family business in the center of Denison's business district, the City of Denison honored June for her many years as a businesswoman in that community. In Utah June became a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, yet she always remained close to her Mid-western Methodist and Episcopal Church roots. June Roscoe Bagnall is survived by her sister-in-law Lois Bagnall Moon (Merrit) of Provo. June's friends in both Denison and Provo deeply cherish beautiful and happy memories of this wonderful woman who enriched their lives with her warm, vibrant friendship and gracious companionship. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Berg Mortuary Drawing Room Chapel, 185 E. Center Street, Provo. Interment will be in Iowa at a later date. Condolences may be sent to info@BergMortuary.com.
