SANDY — DeVry University will be coming to Utah this spring, opening its first Utah site in Sandy to offer undergraduate degrees in business administration and technical management.
The school, a national chain of career-oriented institutions for business, technology and management education, will open its doors at Jordan Commons in Sandy this May.
"There is a strong demand in the Salt Lake City area for programs that offer convenience, flexibility and the opportunity to learn hands on from faculty with industry experience," said John Skubiak, president of DeVry University. "This is particularly true among working professionals looking to enhance their educational foundations or complete their degrees to make themselves more marketable in today's economy."
DeVry offers both traditional campus classes and online courses for its undergraduate programs, as well as master's degrees in business administration, accounting, human resource management, public administration and information systems management.
The school also offers accelerated programs for students looking to change careers with a three-year undergraduate degree and master's programs completed in less than two years.
"There is a growing number of high school graduates and community college students with associate degrees, particularly first-generation college students, who recognize the need for higher education to open doorways to employment opportunities," Skubiak said in a news release.
Bo Hall, former regional president of the Salt Lake/Tooele Applied Technology College, will be taking the helm of the Sandy facility.
Across the nation, nearly 53,000 students are enrolled at 78 DeVry locations in 22 states.
