Warren R Young 1921 ~ 2006 Warren Richards Young passed away on July 13, 2006 from pneumonia. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 25, 1921 to Josephine Barton and Harold Empey Young. He had two older brothers, Dr. Harold E. Young Jr. and Willard B. Young. Warren graduated from West High School, attended the University of Utah and later graduated from college in Hawaii. He married Alice Maxwell Bell April 5, 1946 at Cherry Point, North Carolina. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1943 Warren joined the Navy as an aviation cadet and served during World War II as a Marine Corps fighter pilot in the Pacific and later in the Korean conflict. He earned many commendations including the Distinguished Flying Cross with four stars, Air Medal with 12 stars, Presidential Unit Citation with two stars, Korean Service Medal, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. His last tour of duty was with Marine 1-Presidential Helicopter Squadron during the Kennedy Administration. Warren lived many places and spent his retirement years in Hawaii, San Diego and Salt Lake City. He worked for a while in film processing and then real estate. He involved himself in gardening, family history, and enjoyed traveling. Warren was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings of which his favorites were temple worker and ward executive secretary. He was a very supportive father and grandfather whose humor, encouragement and enjoyment of life will be missed. Preceding Warren in death were Alice Bell Young, his wife of 49 years and his two older brothers, Harold and Willard. He is survived by his three children: Judith Y. Beutler (Elmo) of Orem; Jeffrey R. Young (Joy) of Centennial, Colorado; and Debby Young of Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Our sincere appreciation goes to Hospice for Utah and Trinity Mission Health and Rehab for their concern and thoughtful care of Warren. It was invaluable. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on July 19 at the Twin Peaks LDS Ward, 5235 Wesley Road (1120 East) Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday July 18th at Memorial Estates Mortuary 5850 South 900 East and on July 19th prior to the funeral at Twin Peaks Chapel from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Holladay Memorial Park Cemetery.
