Iron County sheriff's deputies are investigating the discovery of several bones near the Iron-Garfield County line.

The bones were found Saturday evening by a trucker who stopped on Highway 20 to take a break, said Iron County Sheriff's detective Jody Edwards. They were located about 100 feet from the road. Some scraps of clothing were found nearby.

"We don't know if it's human or animal," Edwards said Monday. "There's no obvious hand or skull or foot or anything like that."

Anthropologists were called out to look at the bones, but could not make a determination. The bones have now been sent to the state medical examiner to determine what they are.
