After reading John Lawson's letter (Forum, Aug. 8) about how kids are having their credits increased and the possibility that LDS teenagers may have to stop taking seminary during the day, all I could think was "poor pampered teenagers." Only here in Utah do kids have the luxury of "release time" seminary.

Everywhere else, LDS teenagers get up at 5:30 a.m., go to seminary for an hour, then head off to a day of school, with seven classes each day. I did my freshman year here in Utah, where I had "release time" seminary. Then I moved to California, where there was only early-morning seminary. I got up every morning, went over to the church, had seminary, then headed to high school by 7:15 a.m. You want a solution? Early-morning seminary. Sure, it's a sacrifice of sleep, but the Lord will bless them for it.
