Family members today will hold a funeral and memorial service for the two young boys who died in a flash flood between Price and Helper more than a week ago.

Meanwhile, the search for the youngest boy, 1-year-old Jayden Seal, has been scaled back.

Jayden was swept away July 30 when a 20-foot wall of water hit the Ford Bronco that he and his family were riding in near Garley Canyon. His brother, 5-year-old Levi, also died following the accident.

Jayden's parents, Josh and Courtney Seal, and his 2-year-old sister, Brooklynn, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Brooklynn could possibly be released from Primary Children's Medical Center by midweek if all goes well, according to Courtney Seal's sister, Chrissy Bishop.

A viewing for Levi was held Monday night, and a funeral was scheduled this morning in Price. The family will also hold a graveside service for Jayden after his body is found, Bishop said.

Officials said Monday that they are scaling back, but not abandoning, the search for Jayden. Family members were informed of the plan Sunday night.

"It was hard for us to hear that. Very hard," Bishop said. "It's hard to think he's still out there."

But Bishop said the family also understood the need to "let nature take its course, so to speak" and that searchers have dug everywhere they possibly could right now. The family was extremely grateful for the work of all the searchers and the support from people around the state, she said.

The Carbon County Sheriff's Office will hold another intensive search in about two weeks.

"We're hoping that a couple weeks' time will bring the scent up for the dogs to indicate better," Carbon County Sheriff's Capt. Guy Adams said.

The effort to find Jayden has been hard on family members — who have turned out every day to watch and wait for developments — and searchers, as well.

"I know in the 17 years that I've been a sheriff's deputy that I've never been on a search with this type of emotion," Adams said. "We're not giving up. We're going to continue and hopefully we'll find this little guy."

Although searchers have "turned over every inch of Garley's Wash," they are still hopeful Jayden is somewhere in the five-mile stretch between where he entered the water and a culvert that runs under a nearby golf course. Rescuers from Carbon County have searched the Price River; Emery County searchers will soon look at the Green River, Adams said.

Adams discouraged the public Monday from conducting their own searches for Jayden. Weather has been unpredictable and frequent rainstorms have kept the Price River running fast, he said. A few search dogs, but no searchers, were injured in the weeklong search.

"It's rough terrain, and I don't want unexperienced people down on this river," Adams said. "We're just going to have to wait for time and for the dogs to do their jobs."
