PROVO — A local resident has been named president of the National Exchange Club.
S. Kim Hodges, a member of the Exchange Club of Utah Valley, was installed during the recent 2006 national convention in Orlando, Fla.
He was elected national president-elect at the national convention in Salt Lake City last year. Hodges has also served on the board of trustees of the National Exchange Club Foundation and as regional vice president of Region 4.
A member since 1982, Hodges served on the local board of directors as treasurer, secretary and president. He served as president of the Rocky Mountain District Exchange Clubs in 1997-97. For the national organization he served as chairman of the personnel committee, the leadership development committee and the strategic planning task force.
Hodges has also served the Boy Scouts of America, Junior achievement and United Way. He was on the Provo Power Board from 1994-2002.
The Exchange Club has taken on prevention of child abuse as a national project. In July club officials held a golf tournament at Thanksgiving Point with the proceeds going to the Women and Children's Crisis Center and the Family Support Treatment Center.
Last year the club put up 500 American flags on the Farrer Elementary School field to honor fallen soldiers in the war against terror.
"Americanism is a big issue with us," Hodges said.
