Mary Knecht 1912~ 2006 Mary Holbrook Knecht, died September 24, 2006. She was born August 7, 1912 in Bountiful, Utah, the daughter of Ira C. and Allie Mae Pace Holbrook. She graduated from Davis High School and attended the University of Utah. In 1932 she went to New York to visit her sister, Vera Hales. She met James A. Knecht whom she married the 3rd of June, 1933 in Flushing Long Island, New York. Their marriage was solemnized on the 16th of June 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She is survived by her six sons: James (Sandra), Georgia; Richard (Dorothy), Minnesota; Wayne, Moab; Stephen (Ruth), Orem; Charles (Linda), Eagle Mountain; David (Vickie), Provo, 24 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Ira Holbrook, Salt Lake City. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim, five sisters and one brother. Mary loved music and sang in school operas, choirs and choruses. She was a singing mother at the New York World's Fair in 1964. She served in many church callings in New York, New Jersey and Utah, including: Relief Society President, Primary Stake President, and Orem Stake Board. She also filled a two year Stake mission in New Jersey with her husband and three. years as a church social worker in Utah. Mary had many friends and was a member of several clubs: Orem Women's, New York Women's Book Club, New Jersey Friend's Club and Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Sunset Heights Stake Center, 1260 S. 400 W. in Orem. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
