Willis Howard Cowles 1914 ~ 2006 Willis Howard Cowles passed away September 25, 2006. He was born May 27, 1914 to LeRoy Eugene Cowles and Cecelia Etta Brown Cowles. Bill attended East High, the University of Utah, and New York University. He received a business degree. He also attended the College of Advanced Traffic in Chicago. Bill was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions for his Ward and Stake. He loved to use his musical talents in service to the Church. He married Adelaide Weaver in 1968 and she became his partner in adventure. When he retired from Utah Idaho Sugar Company after 35 years, he and Addie served an LDS mission to Ohio. They traveled the world together before being called to serve a second mission, this time to Sydney, Australia. A dedicated son, Bill spent many hours entertaining at St. Joseph Nursing Home where his mother spent her last days. He played for both LDS and Catholic services there. It is fitting that his last days were spent at St. Joseph. Bill is survived by his wife, Sarah Adelaide Cowles; his two children from his marriage to Myrl Manwaring Cowles Wilbert, Patricia and Michael (Julianne); his three grandchildren, Adam, Annalisa, and Sean, and his sister, Etta Lou Cowles Rose. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leon, Harper, and Calvin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2006 at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may pay their respects prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at the Ogden City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
