George M. Hata Ace George was born January 16, 1920 in Gresham, Oregon to Sunao and Mitsuno Uyehara Hata and went "home" on January 7, 2007. George will be remembered as a loving, generous grandfather who was dedicated to his family. Representing the 442nd Regiment, Company L, during World War II he fought selflessly for his country and received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster. Ace was a dedicated employee of C R England for over 45 years. He enjoyed his time in Wendover, at the Jade, Matsutake hunting in Oregon, and commiserating with his 442nd buddies in Hawaii. He was a loyal friend and did the best he could for family and friends. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Kiyoko, children, Norman and Suzanne, grandchildren, Krista (Dave) Sargent, Ryan (Jessica) and Stacy, great-granddaughter, Adison Lee Sargent, brother, Seiji, sister, Sumiko and their families. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Tsugiko, and brother, Saburo. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South. Casual dress requested.
