Gerald Neldon Miner "Sonny" Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Gerald (Jerry) Neldon Miner, age 70, passed away January 11, 2007 at his home in Salt Lake City. He was born May 4, 1936 in Salt Lake City to Neldon Peter and Geraldine Hammond Miner. He attended West High school where he excelled in boxing and fast pitch softball. He joined the Marines as a teenager and honorably served in the Korean Conflict. He worked for Sears Roebuck for over 25 years. He married Ann Emms in 1961. They were later divorced, but remained close friends. Member of the LDS Church where he developed a love for genealogy. He loved fishing, camping and cooking, especially with his family. His nickname was "Sonny" which aptly described his ability to bring love and warmth into each of our lives. He is survived by his children, Jane (Brent) Davis, De-De Beck, Dave (Kathleen) Miner, Carrie Miner, Tom (Julia) Miner, Steve Miner; siblings, Shirley Richmond, Cherie Lynn (Jay) Nordgran, Pat (Nolan) Hancey, Judie Noall, Sherrie (Stephen) Knight, Susan (Sheridan) McGarry and Robert (Starlene) Miner; 23 grandchildren and many dear nephews and nieces. Many thanks to the excellent caregivers at the VA Hospital and Harmony Home Health. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 15, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East. A viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary prior to services. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
