Speaking Sunday afternoon, he told of the time when, with the help of his children, he was able to bring his less-active father back into the Church and eventually the family received the blessings of the temple.
"I know that thanks to the power of godliness manifest in the ordinances of the temple, I can now be reunited with my parents, for all eternity, even after death," he said.
Many times, the full meaning of temple ordinances is not comprehended "until after we have known affliction or passed through experiences that could have been extremely sad without the knowledge of the plan of salvation."
Elder Tenorio said his wife delivered their first child in Mexico's Chihuahua Colonies, where she had been born, while he continued to work in Mexico City. When he received news that he was the father of a beautiful baby girl, he celebrated by distributing chocolates to his co-workers the next day. Then he received a call informing him she had passed away.
He spoke with his wife about the reality of the plan of salvation and the scripture which states, "And I also beheld that all children who die before they arrive at the years of accountability are saved in the celestial kingdom of heaven." (Doctrine and Covenants 137:10).
After discussing the reality that they would once again be reunited with their child, Elder Tenorio ended the phone call and continued to distribute chocolates.
"Seeing me do this," he said, "one of my co-corkers was surprised and asked me how I could do this after such terrible news. I answered, 'If you have three hours, I can explain to you why I am not feeling too sad and about my knowledge of what happens after death."'
That discussion led to his friend's baptism.
