Mildred L. Sanderson Swan

"Mimi"

Mildred Louise Sanderson Swan, (Mimi), passed from this life on a perfect autumn day, Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007.She was born March 7, 1908, in Fairview, Utah, to Sidney Sylvester and Louise Peterson Sanderson.

She married Jesse T. Swan on April 23, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She was his "little pet."

Although Mimi never had any

children of her own, she made friends with every child she ever met. She had a great imagination for the kinds of games children liked to play. In her church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), she delighted many children as a teacher in the nursery.

Mimi worked for years for the Utah Woolen Mills where they

always began the day by singing "Count Your Many Blessings"

Later in life she began another

career as ward clerk at Primary Children's Hospital, a job which she dearly loved.

Together Mimi and Jesse traveled, joined a square dance club and

enjoyed many friends. When Mimi was 72 years old she took over the weekday care of a eight week old

baby girl, Sara Cooke, whom she cared for over the next 12 years. At age 80, she received her first driver's license.

Mimi was a caregiver in the truest sense. When her mother became ill, Mimi gave up her job in Salt Lake to return to Fairview to care for her until she died; she then cared for her father until he passed away two years later. Later in her life she again quit her job to care for her brother, Win, until he died. A few years later, she cared for a

terminally ill sister-in-law. When her husband, Jesse, became incapacitated she cared for him until he passed away. At that time, she was 90 years old.

Mimi was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, and her four beloved brothers. She is survived by niece, Sydnee (Albert) Halladay, Salt Lake City; and nephew, Winston Sanderson, Seattle, Washington; a sister-in-law Edith Sanderson,

Seattle, Washington; a niece-in-law, Marelle Sanderson, Tooele, Utah; her grand nieces and grand nephews, Blaine, Scott and Christopher Sanderson, Alana Artzer, Derl, Sam and Mark Sanderson, Shawn and Hal Halladay, Hope Olsen, Gay Whetman, Jesse's caring nieces and nephews, Sylvia Hughes, Diane
