Lorraine Lott Bushman

1927 ~ 2007

Lorraine Lott Bushman, age 79, passed away on September 30, 2007, after a decade long struggle with COPD. At last, she is at peace.Lorraine was born on December 11, 1927, at the family farm in Crescent, Utah, to John P. ("Lefty") Lott and Lucille E. Kemp. She lived in Crescent until age 2, when her father was invited to play on the Union Pacific baseball team in Evanston Wyoming, and so the family moved. She grew up in the small town of Evanston, WY, which she always loved and revisited often throughout her adult life. She graduated from Evanston High in 1945 and then went on to attend BYU for one year.

She married Bruce Joseph Bushman on September 12, 1949. They loved entertaining and had a wide circle of friends. Mom had a special love for holidays and family events. It was as if she was one of the kids. She enjoyed playing Bridge and especially loved card games with the family. She was a talented seamstress and did beautiful crochet, needlepoint, knitting, quilting and hand work. She loved snooping around at garage and estate sales and loved refurbishing the treasures she found. She had countless hobbies. Her home was filled with her beautiful hand work and was a tranquil place where friends and family loved to gather. Lorraine worked for the State of Utah for 15 years, where she enjoyed a rewarding career and made many close friends. She retired from the State Department of Corrections in 1994.

She is survived by two daughters, Shawna Thurgood (James DeJarnatt) and Jill Larsen (Mike Burgon) of Salt Lake City, and one son, Jon Scott (Kathy), of Hyrum, Utah; five grandchildren, Jenny, Ryan, Sarah, Adrian, and Kati; and two great-grandchildren, Kaison and Kyl.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, October 8, at Memorial Estates - Mountain View, 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd.). Friends and family may call one hour prior to services.
