The Swiss Chorus Edelweiss will continue its 73-year-old tradition this year with an annual fall concert on Saturday in Riverton.
The concert will be at 7 p.m. at the Riverton Civic Center at 12830 S. Redwood Road and will be free to the public, although donations are also accepted. As part of the group's tradition of promoting awareness and appreciation of the Swiss culture in Utah, the performance will feature yodeling, alphorns, a children's choir and songs sung in Swiss German, French, Italian and Romansch.
The non-profit organization came close to disbanding recently because performance costs were too expensive, according to chorus member Mary Klay, but the Riverton Arts Council has offered to sponsor the event. The Swiss chorus will also perform in Riverton's annual Christmas Around the World festival on Dec. 8 at the civic center.
