Hyrum E. Ottesen

1923 ~ 2007

Hyrum Ottesen, 84, died at his home December 7, 2007 from

complications of a stroke.

Born November 2, 1923 to Hans and Nellie Ottesen. Educated in the Spanish Fork schools. Served during World War II in the 8th and 9th Air Force Service Command in England, Germany, Russia, and France.

Married Shirlene Roach April 14, 1954 in the Manti LDS Temple. Served in the YMMIA, Sunday School presidency and as a High Priest.

He was a successful dairyman and served three years on the Utah State Dairy Commission.

Survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirlene Ottesen, Palmyra; children, Janeen (Phil) Thomas, Spanish Fork; Paul (Becky) Ottesen, Elizabeth (Ed) Nielsen, Barbara (Darin) Jensen, all of Palmyra; and Elaine (Scott)

Gunter of Malad, Idaho; his sister, Ina Olin of Waldport, Oregon; and brother, James Ottesen of Baltimore, Maryland; sisters-in-law, Margaret Ottesen of San Mateo, California; and Carol Ottesen of Orem, Utah; 30 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert and Roy; and a grandson, Bradley Thomas.

Funeral services will be held

Tuesday, December 11th at 11 a.m. at the Palmyra Ward Church, 1866 W. 5000 S. Friends and family may visit Monday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 187 S. Main in Spanish Fork and at the church prior to the services 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery with full military rites.
