Atlas Mining Co., which owns a clay mine in Utah, said this week that its board of directors has accepted the resignations of Robert Dumont as president and chief executive officer, and John Gaensbauer, vice president of corporate development, both of whom joined the company in July 2007.
Citing dissatisfaction with the company's progress, lack of shareholder communications, and overall company status, the board agreed unanimously to reappoint William Jacobson, former president and CEO, to resume his duties on an interim basis. In addition, Barbara Suveg was rehired as corporate accountant and interim secretary.
Idaho-based Atlas Mining operates the Atlas-Fausett Contracting Division, an underground mining and drilling contracting business. Atlas-Fausett owns the Dragon Mine halloysite clay deposit in Juab County. Halloysite clay is used to manufacture tableware, including porcelain, bone china and fine china.
The board also agreed to take a more active role in company affairs and to hire W.S. Adamson and Associates in Salt Lake City to assist in shareholder communications.
