Wanda Robison Pickrell 1906 ~ 2007 Wanda Robison Pickrell, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away at her Salt Lake home surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 15, 2007 at the age of 100. She was born May 10, 1906 in Morgan, UT to William Robison and Eva Louise Robinson. At age 12, her family moved to Rupert, then Boise, ID where she graduated with honors from Boise High School. She married Roy Miller Pickrell May 7, 1928 in Payette, ID. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to Salt Lake in 1929 where she graduated from LDS Business College and attended the University of Utah. Wanda was active in numerous civic and state affairs. A member of the Polio Foundation and March of Dimes Committee. She was a beauty contest judge for several years for the Miss Utah State Fair and Miss Future Farmers of America. Wanda was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was blessed as a baby by Elder David O. McKay of the Quorum of the Twelve. She served as a Young Women's President and in numerous callings throughout her life. A member of DUP. She was a vigorous genealogist for her husband's and her own family. Her creative talent brought her national fame in the 1950's as a designer of women's ultrafashionable hats. She was the exclusive owner of her company. She maintained a permanent marketing showroom in Chicago and regular market exhibits in Denver. (Thanks Ron Inkley for your marketing support) Her personally designed creations were bought by Emporium World Millinery (Chicago), as well as millinery departments from coast to coast, including Z.C.M.I. She held periodic hat fashion shows through a local modeling agency. Wanda was noted for her beautiful penmanship inherited from her father. She possessed a flair for interior decorating and landscaping. She loved nature and beautiful music, but cherished her family more than anything else. The family expresses deep appreciation to Mark Robison Zenger, M.D., John Pickrell, M.D. and Love Health Care/Hospice (David Workman, M.D., Rose, Tamara, Rob, Gena, Lisa, Ron, Donna, Jim, Amanda and Susan) whose compassionate care enabled Wanda to stay in her home. Thanks also to Bishop Tim Hansen and Bishop Richard Lambert for their unfailing support. Survived by her son, Jack L. Pickrell (Ann); daughter Trenna P. Malone; three grandchildren: John W. Pickrell, M.D. (Melinda), Diane P. Brown (Scott), Scott M. Pickrell (Erin); nine great-grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth, Jacob and Anna Catherine Pickrell; Joshua, M'kenna and Dallin Brown; Ethan, Aiden and Keaton Pickrell. Preceded in death by her husband on February 13, 1982 and seven brothers. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East. Friends and family may visit on Thurs. evening, February 22, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
