It's not hell freezing over, but it is snowing in Purgatory.
Snow is being reported from central Utah all the way down to Hurricane.
"Big flakes," said Washington County Sheriff Kirk Smith, looking out his window at the snow falling outside the Purgatory Jail.
Sheriff's deputies said State Route 59 outside of Hurricane was closed for a brief time this morning because of slick roads. Multiple slide-offs were also reported, Smith said.
"It's what you'd normally have in an area that's not used to snow," the sheriff said.
The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory for much of southern Utah. In the Henry Mountains and the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, accumulations of up to 8 inches are predicted.
Another winter storm is predicted to hit the Wasatch Front overnight, with a 50 percent chance of snow on Thursday in the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys.
