SAY WHAT?

NOTES

Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney's pregame routine won't deviate much on Super Bowl Sunday. He'll arrive at Dolphin Stadium, get taped, stretch and then try to lock in mentally on Indianapolis' game plan.

In other words, do exactly what Emmitt Smith told him to do.

Freeney asked Smith — the NFL's all-time rushing leader, three-time Super Bowl winner and former Super Bowl MVP — what to expect emotionally as the title game draws near.

"He kind of told me that there are going to be a lot of emotions," Freeney said. "In that first quarter, it is going to be like you have played a whole fourth-quarter game. I have to get by that. I have to relax and keep it as routine as possible." Then added: "I don't know how that's possible."

Chicago coach Lovie Smith kept his promise of maintaining a routine Friday as the Chicago Bears held their final practice at the University of Miami in preparation for Sunday's Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts.

Before the 75-minute practice, the Bears had a 15-minute walkthrough. The Bears will have a final walkthrough Saturday at Dolphin Stadium, site of the game. Smith said the curfew Saturday night would be moved up, but would not divulge the time.

The Bears had a restaurant manager from the Chicago area flown to Miami on Thursday night to direct Friday's lunch featuring burritos. They were served after practice.

"That's the guy we have at Halas Hall," Smith said. "I'm not (superstitious), it's routine."
