Tom and Susan Rugh were selected by Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon to receive the 2006 Mayor's Award in the Humanities.
Corroon and Tom Alder, vice president and business development officer for Zions Bank, will present the Rughs their award Tuesday during a meeting of the Salt Lake County Council.
The Rughs were nominated for the award for their efforts to record and preserve Utah's history and cultural heritage.
Tom Rugh is former director of the Museum of Utah Art and History, and Susan Rugh is a history professor at Brigham Young University.
The Mayor's Awards were created in 2000 to celebrate the Utah Humanities Council's 25th anniversary.
The awards recognize people all over the state who give their time, energy and expertise to humanities projects that enrich lives and benefit communities.
