M. Richard Kay has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Salt Lake-based Sweet Candy Co.
Kay is the great-grandson of founder Leon Sweet and represents the fourth generation to preside over the family-owned company. Kay joined the company in 2002 as director of business development and most recently served as executive vice president.
Sweet Candy has been in business for 115 years, continuously operating in Salt Lake for 107 years. It has more than 250 candies in its product line.
