Fern Simons Dimond Philpot 2/4/1920 ~ 3/2/2007 We are filled with a sudden emptiness at the passing of Fern on March 2, 2007, at the age of 87. Born February 4, 1920 in Tabiona, Utah to Ezra and Sarah Simons. Raised in Bird's Eye, Utah for which she had an endearing fondness, especially for the horses. Married Ray B. Dimond September 21, 1939. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Following his death, she married Ed Philpot. They spent 22 happy years together. She raised three children, Judy Hill (Don), Dennis, and Debbie Solberg (Dennis). She was devoted to her sisters and brothers, and maintained a close relationship with each of them. She eagerly anticipated family reunions and is now experiencing an ultimate one. Mom loved to go fishing. She loved the mountains and worked to re-create their beauty in her own yard. She loved to paint ceramics to give away as gifts. Her countenance was always accompanied with a smile, especially when country music was playing. She could yodel with the best of them. She always had a hug waiting for you, and made sure there was no doubt in your mind that you were loved. Survived by her children, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grand-children; sisters, Martha Stonich, Kathryn Averett, and Lois Cluff; sisters-in-law, Rhea Simons, Elaine Simons, and Marilyn Dimond; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sisters, Grace Wilson, Mable Davis, Ruth Patraszewski; and brothers, Clyde and Bob Simons. Family and friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 5th at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, and one hour prior to the funeral services, which will be held Tuesday, March 6th, 11:30 a.m. at the Imperial 1st Ward, 2738 South Fillmore (1450 East). Interment at Memorial Estates Mountain View, 3115 East 7800 South. We want to extend a special thanks to our brother, Denny, for his loving care that made it so Mom could spend the last few years in her home she loved so much. Online condolences at legacy.com
