Symantec Corp. announced Monday that it completed its $830 million acquisition of Lindon-based Altiris Inc. as of the close of business Friday.

Altiris is a provider of IT management software. Symantec, based in Cupertino, Calif., provides computer security, compliance and backup and recovery solutions.

With the acquisition, Symantec said it expects to leverage Altiris' strength in reducing the cost and complexity of tracking, supporting and maintaining an organization's corporate IT assets.
