Your article in which Vern Henshaw, the superintendent of the Alpine School District, defends himself for saying that parents that don't like Investigations Math are "extremists" (April 24) illustrates that the district administration is out of touch with parents.

Perhaps we, as parents, are partly to blame. For years, I have felt strongly that Investigations Math was a poor program. To date, I have never expressed my opinions to the school board, to the principal of my children's school or to a newspaper.

For starters, at the next election, we need to vote against any incumbent member of the school board. While Mr. Henshaw is the point man for the Alpine School District, responsibility for the arrogance of the administration falls to the school board. They need to act immediately or step down.
