Shirley Eva LeCuyer Huffman 1918 ~ 2007 Our lovely and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend left us peacefully on Sunday, June 10, 2007, for a joyful reunion with family and friends. Shirley was born Oct. 18, 1918 in Salt Lake City to Oscar Charles and Eva Hansen LeCuyer. She attended East High School and the University of Utah. On Feb. 25, 1941 she married William Bryner Huffman (Bill) in Cincinnati, OH, and together they provided us with wonderful experiences exploring this country. Shirley was a practicing Roman Catholic with a strong faith and concern for others. A cultured lady with a love of good books and the arts, she filled our lives with beautiful art and music, often from her beloved piano. Mom and Dad cultivated many interests and life-long friends. They became world travelers and hikers. Dad was famous for his hiking sticks. Hiking well into her 80's, Mom amazed many younger hikers who had the audacity to ask her age. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her brother, Charles (Chic) LeCuyer and family of Seattle, WA; son Steven of San Jose, CA; daughters Wendy and Julie of Salt Lake City, UT; granddaughter Diane Sullivan (Robert) of Brentwood, CA; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial service at noon on June 26 at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City, followed by lunch to celebrate Shirley and Bill. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Catholic Relief Services or your favorite charity. Messages welcome at wwwlarkinmortuary.com.
