A man in his 40s knocked on my downtown Salt Lake City office door last week. He was selling a booklet of discount coupons for a $5 donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The cover had a U.S. flag in color and read "Over $100 Value."

I guess I'm a soft touch. He got $5 from me.

The coupons are phony. They were cheaply printed. I should have smelled a rat.

Be smarter than I was.
