HOUSTON — Joseph Ngwenya scored a goal from 22 yards out in the 66th minute to give the Houston Dynamo a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas on Sunday.
Ricardo Clark and Corey Ashe assisted on the winning goal. Ngwenya dribbled up the middle of the field, drawing Dallas goal keeper Dario Sala far from the goal, before kicking it past him.
Defending MLS champion Houston (3-5-1) improved its all-time record against Dallas to 3-1-1 and snapped a three-match losing streak.
Western Conference leader Dallas (5-5-1) lost its second straight after winning three in a row.
FIRE 3, CREW 2: At Bridgeview, Ill., William Oliveira had an assist and his first MLS goal as the Fire snapped a five-match winless streak.
Oliveira connected with Jeff Curtin — who was later ejected after receiving two yellow cards — on a corner kick for a 1-0 lead, ending a 221-minute scoring drought for the Fire (3-4-2).
