HURRICANE — Police said an inmate at the Purgatory Jail hanged himself with a bedsheet in his cell.
Authorities released details of the Tuesday suicide after an autopsy was completed Thursday. Hurricane police said Keith Russell Prach, 46, was found hanging in his cell and jail staffers tried to revive him. Prach was pronounced dead at Dixie Regional Medical Center.
Court records indicate Prach was incarcerated on Monday on a charge of simple assault, a third-degree felony. The next day he committed suicide.
