West Valley police have identified the body of a man found over the weekend near the Jordan River Parkway but now need the public's help in retracing the man's final days.

The body of David Michael Lopez, 46, was found Sunday afternoon in the bushes several feet off the main parkway trail near 3100 South.

An autopsy conducted Monday was inconclusive, and additional tests will be conducted, said police Capt. Tom McLachlan. There were no obvious signs of trauma on the body.

The death is being called suspicious until an exact cause can be determined.

Investigators located Lopez's mother, but McLachlan said she has not had much contact with her son recently and did not have information about who his acquaintances were or where he lived.

Lopez had a minor arrest record, McLachlan said. But the last address listed on his jail booking sheet was incorrect, he said.

Police are asking anyone who knew Lopez to call them at 840-4000 to help them piece together what was happening in the days leading up to his death.
